PRLog -- Following two years of research and development, The Social Collective, Inc. has announced the launch of Fireflie.com, a new online platform for musicians, venues, and music fans. Fireflie promises a bevy of online tools for musicians and bands, with consecutive rollouts planned for each tool. The first to go live on the site is /SEARCH, a unique, powerful search engine that matches musicians based on dozens of personality traits, as well as the more conventional matching elements of location, instrument and musical genre.
The creators of Fireflie, themselves veteran musicians, aimed to build an online resource and utility that would solve the problems they regularly encounter when writing, collaborating, touring and performing music. “We wanted to create a platform with all the tools we wish we had when we started playing,” said Jeffrey Stilwell, the Founder of Fireflie. “Tryouts are brutal, and so are cold calls to venues, trying to get a gig. With Fireflie, we wanted to simplify all of it, so independent musicians of every level could just focus on what they love: making music.”
The soft launch for the site was August 12 and saw a quick rise in membership, with a large number of musicians signing up in a relatively short amount of time. Emboldened by the enthusiastic response, Fireflie has continued with plans for a second release on the platform, /SITE, a tool that allows users to convert their Fireflie profile into a highly customizable website, complete with an integrated sales platform and fan analytics. “The idea,” said Stilwell “is to make it super simple and super cheap to build a professional-
grade website for yourself or your band.” Other tools in the offing include /TOUR, a resource that would simplify the tour planning and booking process, and /LEARN, an online learning tool for musicians. With work on Fireflie v2.0 already under way, the company seems poised to challenge the market of online services aimed at the music world.
