Oklahoma-Based EGM Screening of The Grandfathers at Tulsa International Film Festival

OKLAHOMA CITY — The award-winning documentary The Grandfathers from Oklahoma-based filmmaker EthnoGraphic Media (EGM) will be featured at the upcoming Tulsa International Film Festival being held September 22-25.  The Grandfathers will be shown on Friday, September 23 at 12:30 pm at the Tulsa Center for Creativity. Director Jim Hanon will introduce the film and participate in audience Q&A immediately following the screening. Hanon will also discuss documentary filmmaking with students as part of a new educational block being organized by the festival.

EGM president Bill Oechsler commented, “All of us at EGM are very excited about this year’s film festival in Tulsa. Knowing The Grandfathers was selected is an honor in itself. And participating in a festival so close to EGM’s OKC headquarters is cool. However, the chance for director Jim Hanon to connect with students about the craft makes this a special occasion. It’s very much what EGM is all about.”

The Grandfathers is a motion-graphics film that completes the inspiring trilogy begun with End of the Spear and followed by Beyond the Gates of Splendor. All three films, directed by Jim Hanon and produced by Mart Green, chronicle a story of commitment and sacrifice, forgiveness and reconciliation. Ultimately, from the transformation throughout the tribe and within the families, a lasting legacy of faith, hope, and love has been born.

The Grandfathers follows the journey of Jesse Saint, a young man searching for his identity among the tribe that murdered his grandfather. By befriending three tribal elders who took part in the killing, Jesse learns profound lessons about his identity and destiny. What begins as a quest for personal significance becomes a tribute to dignity, forgiveness, and purpose.

Since its release, the film has received solid reviews and best documentary awards from the National Broadcasters Convention and Grand Rapids Film Festival. The Grandfathers was also awarded the respected “5-Dove” rating from the Dove Foundation.

EthnoGraphic Media (EGM) is an educational non-profit (501c3) organization that explores the critical issues of our time.
