Biodegradable Food Service announces BPI Certification for its Kraft Earth Cups and Earth Bowls

Sept. 6, 2011 - PRLog -- Biodegradable Food Service (BDFS) announced today that its premium single-wall Kraft Earth Cup and Earth Bowl soup container have been certified as compostable by the Biodegradable Products Institute (BPI).
The Kraft Earth Cup (KECH-xx) is a double-board/single-wall hot-drink cup and comes in 8-, 10-, 12-, 16-, and 20-ounce sizes.  The Earth Bowl hot-soup to-go container (EB-xx) comes in 8-, 12, 16-, and 32-ounce sizes, and both Cup and Bowl are also suitable for cold liquids.
With the new certification, BDFS’s Kraft Earth Cups and Earth Bowls can be submitted to all commercial compost facilities capable of processing according to ASTM D6868 specifications.  
Kevin Duffy, President of BDFS, said today that “This announcement is a turning point of sorts for Biodegradable Food Service, since they are the first of our products to become BPI Certified.”  He added that “We believe our EarthFiber Lid is a unique and distinctive product, and we’re equally proud of our BPI Certification for the Kraft Earth Cup line.”
