Alpha Omega Academy is pleased to announce the release of three new courses for the 2011-2012 school year. New courses include personal financial literacy and music appreciation for grades 9 through 12 and a revised edition of 6th grade math
Personal financial literacy is available in Switched-On Online (Internet-based lessons) and Switched-On Schoolhouse (CD-ROM-based lessons) curriculum. Music appreciation is available only in Switched-On Online. Newly revised 6th grade math is available in Switched-On Online and Switched-On Schoolhouse. Courses include complete academic services including grading and teacher support, along with online classroom instruction.
Personal financial literacy is a one-semester course that outlines essential money management skills such as budgeting, checking accounts, banking, and investment planning. Music appreciation is a one-semester course that grows music understanding by examining forms and genres, instruments, and musical influences on society. Newly revised 6th grade math is a two-semester course that focuses on preparing for pre-algebra with lessons on geometry, fractions, equations, and ratios.
Deborah Secord, principal, said, “These courses are a fabulous addition to our course offerings here at the academy, allowing students to choose classes that broaden their scope of learning from academia to practical and cultural knowledge.”
