Will Hurricane Irene be the worst storm in decades for New York and New England? OneNews

OneNews calls for smartphone journalists to document historic Hurricane Irene using their citizen journalism mobile app technology.

Aug. 26, 2011 - PRLog -- All of us at OneNews wish everyone in the projected path of Hurricane Irene - from the Carolinas to New England - a safe hunker down through the storm.

Our assignment is this: Stay Safe.

Once you have that taken care of, we’d love for you to take a few moments out of your Hurricane Irene experience to show us how you’re weathering the storm.

Perhaps you’re still making, or watching your neighbors make, last minute preparations by boarding up homes and installing hurricane shutters.

Maybe you’ll take a quick snapshot of your downtown area, or favorite businesses, to show us how they have barricaded their locations from Mother Nature’s indiscriminate wrath.

There’s a possibility you’ll take a short video clip to share the arrival of Irene’s outer bands to your neighborhood - or the steps you’ve taken to make sure you’re prepared for the storm.

When it’s all said and done - take a few moments and show us how Irene treated your neighborhood, or your street, or your yard.

Remember - don’t let your guard down just because the storm has passed.  The hours immediately after a hurricane is when many injuries occur - remain vigilant and stay safe

You can submit images taken with smartphone cameras (via our mobile app) and/or conventional cameras Click Here to Learn How: http://onenews.tumblr.com/post/8643690937/conventional-ca...

Media entities will be perusing all submitted images, looking to purchase the best ones.  If they do - you’ll get paid.

We, also, may feature a few select images on our OneNews blog and social media accounts - to show the world how great our users are!

Join Us at OneNews today and help us to document this historic storm.
