Founder Alexis Avila of Wayland, Massachusetts earned a bachelor's degree in psychology and film at the University of Michigan and a master's degree in counseling psychology from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. His experience as a high school guidance counselor inspired the idea for Prepped & Polished.

"As a trained guidance counselor, with tutoring experience during college and graduate school, I knew that this business would be a natural fit for me," he said.
