By: Arran Wood Q. The big question of course has to be why have you decided to go freelance after so many years keeping the network at the top of the engines? ---- A. To be honest the challenge has gone, my job now is so predictable because we have been the top on Google now for 4 years and my role in the business is simply to monitor the competition and react whenever they make the slightest move. Q. Why Freelance? Won’t you just move over to another of the big names online, after all the vast majority of businesses online could never afford you? ---- A. I have chosen to go freelance for the freedom that comes with it, Yes of course I have received calls from lots of the usual market leaders asking me to join them, but really, let’s face it the only reason they want me is for the fear if I am against them they know it will cost them silly money to compete. I would rather work with 10 or 12 different companies who are targeting different markets and have yet to earn good money online, taking little known companies to the top of the engines is very rewarding and everything you do as an SEO is appreciated. Regarding the costs, of course small businesses could not afford the fees single handed, that’s why I have chosen to work with 10 – 12 different companies, this will enable each business to afford the costs and still get the amazing results that the top of the engines brings. Q. Have you chosen the 10 or 12 companies yet? ---- A. No, as many of these companies will not have heard of me or even SEO for that matter. (One of the reasons I agreed to this interview) They are not usually abreast of the backend work needed to take top spot on Google and keep it against a lot of competition online. Q. How are businesses who want to grab you quick going to get hold of you? ---- A. There are a few companies who are attending the usual shindigs that I am sure will grab me at the next Internet summit, however if any business is really committed to building their business online and really want to get hold of me they can email me. You can even put my email address in your interview if you want “ support@hosting- Q. We all know your good, but can you really handle 10 or 12 businesses SEO on your own? ---- A. I wish lol. No I am taking a top team with of 5 with me, together we can accomplish anything in any programming language. This is like the A-Team of the internet, and the approach is to work with a company and not push out all of their own web team, after 2/3 meetings we will have all of infrastructure needed to take any business from wherever they are on the internet to the top and to the top earners in their market. Q. On a closing note, is this the last we will see of you in the big world of the internet now you are leaving what can only be described as the largest network in the world? ---- A. No, on the contrary, in fact 12 months down the line you will probably see a lot more of me because I will be in the same circles but representing up to 12 new players.
