All of our lives are becoming increasingly reliant on high speed internet, digital phone and online television. Consumer expectations continue to require major developments and constant innovation by service providers. The need for speed drives the demand for updated infrastructure and platforms, conversions from copper to fiber optics and the development of 100G (and beyond) networks. In turn, service providers place higher demands on manufacturers of the components for these faster platforms. This accelerated growth, and high-gear adoption rate has brought Integra Networks into the fiber optic equipment forefront, leading Integra Networks to yet another level of increased staffing requirements. To fulfill its growing staffing needs, Integra Networks recently reached out to local education resource, ITT Technical Institute in Albany, New York, for qualified entry level technical employees. Integra Networks looked to the local ITT Institute not only because of ITT’s solid reputation, but also as part of the company’s commitment to support local, Tech Valley economic growth initiatives. Working closely with ITT’s Director of Career Services, Miranda VonFricken, Integra Networks invited ITT Albany students to tour its facility. The ITT students had the opportunity to speak with our engineers and developers to learn more about the telecommunications industry and Integra’s growing role within that industry. Integra Networks was so impressed with the ITT program and the students that were graduating from it, the company quickly decided to hire three ITT students; two upon their graduation in June 2011, and one hired and working as of July, yet still committed to completing the ITT course work and graduating in September, 2011. These three individuals, Thomas Radigan, David Daley Jr. and Nelson Quiles, were hired as Electronics Technicians in Integra Networks’ Engineering and Development Department. Their duties include day to day logistics activities; receiving manufacturing parts, stocking new inventory and preparing completed equipment to be shipped to customers. These new Electronics Technicians are also involved in the coding and testing processes for Integra Networks’ fiber optic transceivers. “As we concentrate on growth and the expansion of our customer base, working with a reliable and reputable educational institution allows us to hire the right people”, says Integra Networks President, David Prescott, “Having the right people on staff, ensures we are able to maintain our promise of availability and reliability to our customers.” Success within the fiber-based products industry necessitates fresh, creative, and resourceful perspectives. Over the last two months Integra Networks has recruited five new employees in its Engineering and Development Department alone, evidencing our commitment to the balance of experience, innovation and fresh perspectives; # # # About Integra Networks, Inc.: Located in New York’s Capital Region, Integra Networks Inc. is one of the industry’s fastest growing fiber optic equipment manufacturers, specializing in providing quality, cost-effective OEM compatible optical transceivers.
