Aug. 10, 2011 - PRLog -- SOLANA BEACH, CA (August 10, 2011) – Source 44 LLC, the world’s leading provider of Sustainability data services and Product Footprint Data Sheets (PFDS)™, and Sustainable Life Media (SLM), the leading producer of sustainable business conferences and educational events, today announced the release of the latest in a series of industry-leading webinars on product sustainability: “Snapshot on Sustainability.” The webinar will describe pragmatic steps that retailers and manufacturers can take to engage their vendors, ensure increased brand protection, maximize their sustainability efforts and identify cost savings hidden deep within their supply chain.

Snapshot on Sustainability will be available for public viewing as follows:
Date: Wednesday, August 10, 2011
Time: 5:00 pm PST
Public viewing: bit.ly/nwvti7

The 40-minute webinar will feature
•   Source 44’s new product sustainability video
•   Three Source 44 representatives who will provide a recap of the presentations each delivered at the Sustainability Brands ’11 Conference in June.
•   A panel of sustainability experts who will provide first-hand insight into sustainability challenges and successes from the vantage point of their respective industries. They will also answer questions about supply chain sustainability, such as how to engage suppliers, why companies are investing in sustainability tools and what technology and resources are available to accurately measure sustainability data.

“We are thrilled to expand our partnership with Sustainable Life Media by co-producing this unique ‘talk show’ style sustainability webinar,” said Mike Fraser, Source 44 Executive Vice President and Chief Development Officer.

Earlier this year SLM invited Source 44 to publish a monthly column on SLM’s website. Fraser's first article, “Pragmatic Sustainability: How Harmonizing Sustainability and Traditional Business Practices Can Improve Company Performance,” received top billing, one of seven notable SLM articles the week it was published. The latest article—“Corporate Social Responsibility: The Answer?”—will be published later this week.

“Sustainable Life Media attracts a business community that is eager to share unique and practical ways of approaching sustainability. We hope our webinar lives up to their expectations by providing realistic yet innovative steps businesses can take to increase their sustainability—and their bottom line,” Fraser said.

The following Source 44 representatives will provide a recap of the presentations delivered at the Sustainability Brands ’11 Conference.

Ed Viesturs
Ed Viesturs, Source 44's Co-Founder and Chief Spokesperson, was a plenary speaker at the conference. As America's leading high-altitude mountaineer, adventurer and environmentalist, Viesturs’ presentation was titled, “Inspiring Innovation: Tackling a Carbon Neutral Expedition to Antarctica.”

“Sustainability in a company is not an event, it is an expedition,” Viesturs inspired dozens of audience members to post messages on the SB ‘11 Twitter page. The overwhelming response to Viesturs’ presentation continued at the Source 44 exhibit, where he met with audience members and signed copies of his books and the IMAX DVD in which he starred, “Everest.”

Jess Kraus
Jess Kraus, Source 44 President and CEO, was an integral part of the panel session titled, “Key Initiatives & Solutions for Measuring and Managing Impact Across the Value Chain.” Kraus illustrated the unique challenges facing business looking to “green” their supply chain. He also discussed the tools Source 44 has developed in response to these challenges.

“Many businesses simply do not have the time or resources to monitor and manage their supply chains to ensure every supplier is meeting their requirements,” Kraus explained.
“Source 44’s online platform, Source IntelligenceTM, utilizes technology to access supply chains and monitor their impacts – ultimately simplifying how businesses approach their supply chain sustainability.”

Jennifer Schwab
Jennifer Schwab, a member of Source 44’s Board of Advisors, joined three other industry leaders in the breakout session titled, “Navigating Standards and Setting Goals.”

Schwab and the panel explored a myriad of certifications on the market today. She also emphasized what her organization, Sierra Club Green Home, has developed to help companies ensure their environmental sustainability message is communicated effectively and consistently to its customers. "It's very difficult for people and companies to navigate the world of environmental certifications," Schwab said. "Hopefully organizations like Sierra Club Green Home and others here on the panel - like Starbucks, Interface, and the Sustainability Consortium - can continue to bring clarity."
