Aug. 10, 2011 - PRLog -- Scores of vintage 1950s and 60s Eames seating has arrived on the premium 20th century design and collectibles site, including DSW dowel side chairs, RAR rocking chairs and the classic Eames lounger with ottoman.
A rainbow spectrum of 1950s Eames DSW side chairs with dowel bases showcase the Eames’ innovation of a single fiberglass ‘shell’. Coming in lemon or canary yellow, orange, red, ochre, green, blue and white, there’s Vintage Seekers has a DSW chair to suit every interior. Production of these chairs began in 1950 by Zenith on behalf of Herman Miller.
Also manufactured by Zenith in 1950s were the Eames rope edge arm shell chairs. Vintage Seekers has two arm shells designed in 1950 in olive green or yellow, mounted on birch rocker bases.
The classic Eames lounge chair with ottoman retains the structural refinement of characteristic of Eames furniture but with softer, down-filled leather seats. The 1967 Eames model 670/71 lounger and ottoman counts among Vintage Seekers’ mid-century design range.

An early 1950s Eames calfskin chair presents a burst of pattern and texture, meanwhile, with the animal print upholstery as a new addition to the original 1950s Herman Miller DCM chair.

The chief proponents of American mid-century modern aesthetic, Charles and Ray Eames were a husband and wife team who set the bar for post-war furniture design. Their first hit was the first plywood chair put into production in 1946 and inspired by their work moulding plywood splints for the US Navy.
