Aug. 8, 2011 - PRLog -- According to the 2011 Back to School survey by the National Retail Federation, back-to-school projections continue to be flat for retailers as budget-conscious parents find ways to save on clothing, school supplies and electronics. Moms hoping to maximize their savings and spend even less than national averages on apparel turn to consignment sale events, where gently used children’s clothing is sold for a fraction of retail prices.

"It’s expected that parents will, on average, spend around $603.63 on clothing and school supplies this year. If they shop at consignment sales for back-to-school clothing however, they will spend much less than that and still find stylish clothing that’s in great condition," said Amy Berridge, owner of All About Kids Consignment Sale.

About Consignment Sale Events
Consignment stores such as Children’s Orchard and other second-hand shops have been in several Metro-area communities for many years; however, the new trend of large weekend consignment events has recently become popular. These large three-day consignment sales offer parents an easy way to find the apparel they need amongst a large selection of discounted clothing. Sales also provide much-sought after baby items such as high chairs, gliders, strollers, and car seats.

“Consignment sale events are on the rise because of the unmatched selections that are offered at reduced prices. Our sale always carries hundreds of clothing items in every size, for boys and girls, ages newborn through juniors,” said Berridge. “Also, moms are finding “Craig’s List” type deals, but avoid having to meet a stranger or mess with the risk of online shopping.”

About All About Kids Consignment Sales
Berridge’s sale is one of the few only locally-owned consignment sales in the Metro area. Other large consignment sales occur throughout the fall, but they are franchises that have entered the market. All About Kids is the only Kansas City-based sale, and it is also one of the largest in the area. In two years, Berridge has more than doubled the size of her sale. She is expecting approximately 30,000 items and 200 consignors at her September sale.

“As a mom of three, the All About Kids sale is honestly the best sale I have been to, and the only sale I sign up to consign. The sale is spacious, priced well, and always has tons of items,” said consignor Leah LoChiano.

The fall All About Kids sale will be open to the public Friday, September 9 through Sunday, September 11 and be located at KC Sports Lodge, off 40 Hwy in Independence, Missouri. Items such as clothing, furniture, toys, high chairs, strollers, books and other baby and children's items will be available.
