Egypt Yellow Pages Application Available At BlackBerry App World

Aug. 8, 2011 - PRLog -- Cairo, Egypt – August 7, 2011 – Users of Yellow.com.eg can now download the Egypt Yellow Pages BlackBerry Native Application directly from BlackBerry App World.

In March 2011, Egypt Yellow Pages Ltd, the Local Search Company, proceeded with a soft launch of its new BlackBerry Native App, at which time it could only be downloaded from Yellow.com.eg. During the ensuing months, BlackBerry App World signed agreements with Egypt’s mobile operators to allow their customers to access applications via the site, and Egypt Yellow Pages Ltd completed valuable beta testing on the application.

The application beta-testing program provided useful feedback from Egypt Yellow Pages users on social-networking sites and led to additional features in the final application, which was developed by the Egyptian start-up company Apptitude.

“The Egypt Yellow Pages BlackBerry Native App is unique for a number of reasons,” said Marc Lambert, Regional Managing Director for Egypt Yellow Pages Ltd. “It is not only one of the first BlackBerry App World applications developed in Egypt and published from Egypt, its final form was also largely shaped by our community of users on various social-networking sites.”

Once a user downloads the application from BlackBerry App World or Yellow.com.eg, they click on the Egypt Yellow Pages icon, enter the business name, category, keyword, or brand for which they are looking, select the location, and click ‘find.’ The application supports a local search feature utilizing the GPS in one’s phone. Using BlackBerry maps, it shows users locations of nearby businesses and includes routing capabilities, allowing users to obtain directions to the businesses they want. Among other features, the BlackBerry Native App is equipped for social networking and includes user-sharing on Facebook and Twitter.
