High Traffic San Antonio Bookstore Presents Unique Selling Opportunity for Self-Published Authors

Calling Both New and Established Authors Who Seek the High Exposure of a Brick and Mortar Bookstore Presence!

July 31, 2011 - PRLog -- July 31, 2011 – In the new world of today’s publishing industry, self published authors have a greater chance for success in selling their books.  Gone are the days of spending years searching for an agent, publisher or even crossing their fingers just hoping the novel will become a bestseller.  And although only a small percentage of self-publishers ever sell a lot of their books, the opportunities for distribution – both online and in bookstores – keeps growing at a rapid pace.

Because of this new wave in technology and with Print-On-Demand (POD) publishing, more emerging authors than ever have been marketing their books on sites like Amazon, Booklocker and Barnes and Noble.  Yet many authors still dream of seeing their books in circulation on the shelves of a bookstore.  However the challenges of distribution, as well as the cost of implementing marketing are often too high to make it worthwhile.

As a new author herself, as well as a highly successful business woman, Nancy Oakley saw this as an opportunity for self-published authors.  Her high-traffic jewelry and clothing stores in San Antonio’s prestigious River Walk have been going strong for several years now and there are currently no bookstores within the River Walk marketplace.  According to the official visitor site for San Antonio (www.visitsantantonio.com), “Millions of people visit the River Walk each year to enjoy the unusual urban sanctuary that winds along the San Antonio River.”  That’s millions of prospective customers who also frequent the shopping areas of the River Walk’s European style district.

By mid-September, Thai Princess Bookshop in San Antonio, Texas will open its doors as the most premier – and the only – bookstore available to consumers.  “I’m excited about this store because it eliminates the middle man,” explained Nancy. “Self-published authors who find it difficult to get their books on shelves will like this approach because it gives them a highly visible in-store presence.  My intent is to partner with them and market their books for them.  It’s a win-win for us both, because many new authors struggle with the marketing aspect of their writing careers.”

Her own realization of the challenges many new authors face was the reason for her interest in launching the store.  So instead of giving up, Nancy Oakley took it upon herself to help as many self-published authors as possible to get their books out to the public.

For only a nominal annual fee, self-publishers can have a visible bookstore presence with Thai Princess Bookshop, a favorably visible brick-and-mortar bookstore. The best part? TPB handles all of the marketing, sales and distribution and lets the author keep half of the royalties, which is far more generous than the big retail distribution giants who keep upwards of 70 – 80% or more of the royalties.

This presents an unprecedented opportunity for self-publishing, especially in a world with so many self-published authors who struggle to sell their books on their own.  In fact, many self-published authors don’t understand the first thing about marketing to today’s technologically savvy consumers and just expect that once they write a book it will magically reach bestseller status.

“As an author myself, I want to help as many self-published authors reach their goals of selling more books and making money.  I’m doing this for them,” said Ms. Oakley.

With two books already written and scheduled to be released within the next month, Nancy is excited about the possibilities and welcomes discussions with all authors who want to realize their goal of seeing their books available to walk-in consumers.  “All it takes is one customer to buy a book at my bookstore and spread the word,” Oakley further explained. “That one customer will tell a friend and before you know it, everyone is clamoring to read this book that they will be unable to find anywhere else.”

With many reputable connections and an already strong presence in the tourist town of San Antonio, Thai Princess Bookshop is ready to make its move.  If you are a self-published author or know anyone else who wants to sell their published work, please contact Nancy Oakley directly at: 210-223-9805.   Or send an email directly to: nancyoakley1@hotmail.com for more information.
