July 29, 2011 - PRLog -- Fort Worth, TX.  July 29, 2011.  Dry Ice is being used to ship more refrigerated and frozen goods than ever before.  However, dry ice can be difficult to find, and dissipates quickly.   Techni-ICE (TM) (tek-nee ice) Dry Ice Packs are a good alternative to dry ice (http://www.dryicepacks.com/) when shipping perishables, and provide many benefits over dry ice.

For instance, dry ice is classified hazardous material by the FAA, so it is limited to only a few pounds, and it must be marked with a label when you ship something by air.  Techni-ICE (TM) Dry Ice Packs (TM) are not hazardous or toxic.  They require no special labeling when shipping by air.  Some FedEx centers won't even accept dry ice into their facility for any shipments:  Ground, Home, or Air.

If you are shipping frozen food with the goal of keeping it frozen 3 days and cold into the fourth day, here's how to do it without using dry ice (http://www.dryicepacks.com/).  First, use a Styrofoam cooler with at least 1 1/2 inch thick sides.  To ship 4 to 8 pounds of frozen food, use 2 sheets of Techni-ICE (TM) Dry Ice Packs (TM) (two and a half sheets if it's over 90 degrees F outside, or one and a half sheets if the high temperature is less than 60 degrees F.)

A rule of thumb is to use one extra sheet for every 8 quarts (2 gallons) of cooler space.  However, the length of time any ice pack will last will depend on several things:  your cooler or container type, how much Techni-ICE (TM) you use, how long you freeze the Techni-ICE(TM) (24 hour minimum), the size of what you're trying to keep cold, and the outside temperature... even how much air-space is in your container.   For more advice on packing your perishables, visit http://www.DryIcePacks.com or call (888) 825-4112.

Shipping frozen food and other perishables is more common today than ever, and Techni-ICE (TM) Dry Ice Packs (TM) make it easier than ever.
