West Chester, Pennsylvania - The Pennsylvania Leadership Charter School invites representatives of the media to the NASA Summer of Innovation Space Camp Program presented by teachers from the Pennsylvania Leadership Charter School and Achievement House Charter School. Monday, August 1, 2011 through Friday, August 5, 2011 Pennsylvania Leadership Charter School Advanced Ideas Center 1585 Paoli Pike West Chester, PA 19380 The Pennsylvania Leadership Charter School (PALCS) is excited to bring NASA-themed science, technology, engineering and mathematics content and activities to our Advanced Ideas Center. PALCS science teacher, Laura Tope, will be running the NASA Space Camp for approximately 30 students, along with Achievement House Charter School science teacher, Neal Thomas. This NASA Space Camp program is funded by the Summer of Innovation (SoI) Mini-Grant opportunity in partnership with the National Space Grant Foundation for 2011. Grant partners include NASA, Chester County Intermediate Unit, Immaculata University, and several member schools, including the Pennsylvania Leadership Charter School. Students will participate in many activities over the course of the five-day camp. Activities include those such as: Volcano Mapping and Construction, Airfoil Design and Observation, Mars Pathfinder Egg Drop Challenge, Space Shuttle Glider assembly and challenges, Rocket Launch, Rover Races and more.
