Sixth Annual Kevin Cook Spirit Run makes registration easier with QR bar codes

July 25, 2011 (Garden Grove, CA)— Those interested in registering for the Sixth Annual Kevin Cook Spirit Run, a 5K Run/Walk, will have one more way to connect with the Spirit Run’s website and registration pages now that the organizers have added QR bar codes to all their brochures and marketing materials.

   QR bar codes can be used to link a user directly to a website.  Smart phone users can download a QR reader app for free.  The QR bar code for the Kevin Cook Spirit Run will take users directly to the Spirit Run website, with an easy click to the registration page.

   “We want to make sure that we give race participants every opportunity to find us and to register for the event.  More and more people are using the QR bar codes and readers from their smart phones to locate information on events, and we want to accommodate those that are using this new technology,” said Luke Farnell, President of the Kevin Cook Memorial Foundation that puts on the annual 5K Run/Walk in memory of Kevin Cook.  Cook was a student athlete killed in a tragic motorcycle accident. Funds raised from the annual 5K Run/Walk are used for student athlete scholarships and grants for participating high school sports teams.

   The Sixth Annual Kevin Cook Spirit Run will be held at the Orange County Great Park in Irvine on September 3, 2011.  The organizers are expecting a record  1,000 participants.  For more information on this event, or to register, use your smart phone to scan the QR bar code or visit www.kevincookspiritrun.org.

The Kevin Cook Spirirt Run 5K Walk/Run is held each year in memory of Kevin Cook, a student athlete who died in a tragic motorcycle accident. The event raises funds for student athlete scholarships under the direction of the Kevin Cook Memorial Foundation.
