July 25, 2011 - PRLog -- Harking back to the heatwaves and lazy days of yesteryear, this summer, Peter Jones will teach budding chefs, ambitious hosts and hands-on families how to make indulgent, retro ice cream flavours at home in a series of Home-made Ice Cream Masterclasses.

After a thoroughly British springtime, which saw people hosting vintage-style tea parties in celebration of the Royal Wedding, the landmark Chelsea branch of John Lewis continues the retro revival by revealing how to reinvent a trio of British summertime classics.

During two live demonstration classes on 27th and 30th July, Head Chef Chris McLean will recreate nostalgic ice cream flavours to satisfy every sweet tooth. The decadent menu of ice cream delights includes:
      - Creamy Caramel Swirl
      - Smooth Blueberry and Raspberry Ripple
      - Refreshing Mint Choc Chip

Chris McLean, Head Chef at Peter Jones, says, “Many customers are daunted by the prospect of making ice cream at home, as they fear high maintenance preparation and tedious late-night trips to the freezer to churn. The Home-made Ice Cream Masterclasses will demystify this myth, using the latest kitchen gadgetry, finest ingredients and inspiring presentation techniques so that customers feel confident in their new skill and are ready for a summer of entertaining al fresco.”

With tantalising tasters available on the day for the masterclass students, the Home-made Ice Cream Masterclasses are free of charge and open to customers of all ages. They will take place in the Peter Jones demonstration kitchen on Wednesday 27th July at 6pm and Saturday 30th July at 10:30am. Customers do not need to pre-book.
