July 21, 2011 - PRLog -- Chelmsford, MA – As news breaks of corporate data breaches and information leaks on a daily basis, law firms and corporate legal departments are focusing on the importance of protecting confidential client data and complying with stringent government regulations around data privacy. On August 23, Biscom, provider of the AmLaw 200’s most secure document exchange technology, will demonstrate ways law firms can ensure document and file transfer security at the prestigious annual conference for the International Legal Technology Association (ILTA).

The ILTA Conference, which runs from August 21-25 in Nashville, brings together thousands of IT professionals, administrators, lawyers and corporate counsel from across the globe to discuss important technology trends, products and applications.

Biscom will join the presentation roster by showcasing its secure document exchange solution as part of the conference’s State of the Art Technology Demos track on August 23 at 1:30 p.m. CT.

“No law firm wants to be on the receiving end of a data breach and yet something as simple as sending an email can put it at risk,” said Charlie Magliato, Legal Program Director for Biscom and presenter for the ILTA session. “A data breach has disastrous implications for an organization’s business, clientele and reputation. The same applies to the noncompliance of regulations that protect data privacy such as HIPPA.  The Biscom presentation will focus on deploying secure file transfer technology to protect confidential client data, meet regulatory compliance and increase the productivity of attorneys and IT staff by replacing inefficient, unsecure and difficult-to-use file transfer methods.”

The session will include an overview and demonstration of how Biscom Secure File Transfer for Legal is being deployed in law firms and corporate legal departments to:

•   Secure the document exchange process
•   Replace cumbersome and often unsecured FTP sites
•   Offload large email attachments
•   End dependence on physical media such as CDs and thumb drives
•   Meet regulatory compliance
•   Collaborate in a secure environment with clients and outside counsel
•   Implement advanced encryption and user authentication
•   Take advantage of Biscom’s integration with popular software such as SharePoint, Outlook and iManage and Litera.
