July 19, 2011 - PRLog -- The Sierra Nevada House, long time locale for river gatherings, will host this year’s inductees and friends of the sport October 15, 2011 at 6 pm. “We are thrilled to be planning an induction in California, particularly in Coloma, the backdrop for so much whitewater history, and the home to many pillars of the sport,” notes Risa Shimoda, IWHOF Chair and Class of 2010. “We are lucky to be planning this year’s event at the Sierra Nevada House to greet whitewater legends from the US and abroad.”

Keith Miller, owner of California Canoe & Kayak, chairs the local organizing team to galvanize local support for the event which includes inductees’ travel and lodging requirements during their visit, and an IWHOF paddle on the South Fork of the American River prior to the ceremony. “We could not be more pleased to host the IWHOF in California, a state rich in whitewater history and the home of renown river advocate Martin Litton (2006 inductee) and the late world river explorer Lars Holbek (2009 inductee),” notes Miller.

2011 IWHOF nominations are being accepted through IWHOF Affiliate Organizations until July 22nd.  Nomination forms, instructions, the election procedure and timeline are available on the IWHOF website Nominations Page at www.iwhof.org.
