July 16, 2011 - PRLog -- The Board of 2011 British Open is quite competitive. There are 29 golf players with difference in four shots. In addition, the first ranked player only surpasses 7 shots than the last-ranked player among those who got through the second round. As the weather forecast said severe weather was about to attack the Royal St. George's, a new game was about begin.
Darren Clarke got a warmly applause for his excellent performane at the last hole though Royal St. George's is full of mistakes and challenges. For ten years, Darren Clarke has not heard such a crash of applause for himself. Over the past two years, when McDowell and Rory McIlroy have won the U.S. Open, making Darren nearly be forgetton by golf fans. But this British Open, he is determined to come back. Lucas Glover, American player took the second place. He has a more stable performance at the final stage. Lucas Glover tied with Darren for the leading at the second round, with results of 140 strokes, four under par.
As the end of the second round on Friday with sun shinning and wind blowing, Darren and Lucas are taking a lead. But we can not ignore that there are another two day competition and harsh climate on the weekends. When some people excited Darren Clarke of Northern Ireland has the potential to win another major championship, you better look at the leaderboard. Only 7 scores between the first and last players.
In addition to the ranking board, weather is another hot topic referred to the British Open. Weather forcast predicts that there is strong wind on Saturday morning, then wind and rain will gradually become heavier and heavier. Such kind of weather makes the result of this British Open more unpredictable. Maybe the history of ten years ago British Open will be repeated. At that Open, David was behind 7 strokes at the beginning of the third round, but he took a lead after that round. Since Royal St. George's is really a very harsh course, the final winner will be open to more golfers.
Many players have the possibility to won the champion, especially Callaway Golf Player Micklson. Though Phil never did a good job at British Opens, his new skills would help him outstanding in the following two days competitions. His new skill is effective especially in bad weather condition. We are expecting his good performance with his new-released Callaway Golf clubs. Among those players who is potenial to win, there are Darren Clark, Phil Micklson, 20-year-old amateur Tom Lewis, 61-year-old Tom Watson, the former Ryder Cup captain Tom Lehman, the current captain Davis Love III, U.S. Masters champion Shore Binchois, as well as the new golf star, 2011 US Open Champion McIlroy.
