July 15, 2011 - PRLog -- A new approach to alcohol rehabilitation is changing the way addiction is dealt with.

Rehab specialists Panacea Healthcare have joined forces with specialist rehab retreat Affinity Lodge, which has launched a new scheme for its clients. The retreat aims to encompass an individual’s physiological, psycho-emotional and spiritual needs in a bid to help them beat addiction – and have seen an 87 per cent success rate.

Chris Knight, Managing Director at Panacea Healthcare, said: “An alcohol addiction can often only be treated by joining a private alcohol rehab programme and we help people to find the right one. “We recommend Affinity Lodge to our clients as they have an innovative and holistic approach, which takes rehab one step further. They focus on emotional processes and changing thought patterns so people feel better about themselves and don’t want to revert back to their old ways.

“All of our counsellors at Panacea have undergone either drug and/or alcohol rehab themselves so they know what addicts go through and therefore can help them to find the right alcohol rehab programme for them and ultimately achieve success.

“Finding the most suitable location for an alcohol detox can be difficult, but find the right one and it can change lives,” he added. At Affinity Lodge the private alcohol treatment concentrates on an integrative approach (Heart-Mind-Body), providing a unique holistic experience addressing the enormous range of physical, psychological, emotional, spiritual and social aspects of alcohol addiction.

Jane Allen and John Gillen, founders of Affinity Lodge, both have personal experience of the ‘dark side’ of addiction and the ‘light’ of awareness in recovery and have used this to develop their highly successful programmes.

Mr Gillen said: “What makes us different is that we focus on the emotions as emotional processes can work faster than the mind to override old emotional circuitry and change thought patterns.

“Creating a family atmosphere and loving environment are an essential part of this treatment, as well as one-to-one time and on-going assessments,” he added.

Recreational outings and Exposure Therapy, which is experiential work for clients to learn how to cope in the present moment, are also included in treatment programmes. Mr Gillen added: “This combination creates an alcohol detox with a difference, helping patients move on to a brighter future.”
