The novelty ID cards consist on novelty drivers licenses, novelty student cards, novelty superhero cards to name a few. These cards are sold solely for the use of novelty purposes and are sold for as little as £10. The fake ID cards that are being sold are mainly fake drivers licenses and fake passports which are being sold for a lot more money for much more sinister reasons.

Another type of person purchasing these fake ID cards are illegal immigrants they are using these fake ID cards to get work and try and stay in that country. You will also get people who have had their license taken off them due to driving offences who will then obtain a fake ID card so they can carry on driving. These are all criminal offences and anyone found to be using a card for those reasons will be prosecuted.

As long as you are purchasing a fake ID card  for the right reasons ie novelty purposes then there is nothing to worry about. The criminals producing are purchasing fake id cards are the ones who will eventually get caught and prosecuted.
