Home Close manager, George Catanescu, explained that everyone played their part in the occasion: “We held a little party for Dulcie’s friends, family and fellow residents and she really enjoyed it. We are all very proud of her for reaching this milestone and she was pleased to receive her telegram from the Queen. “It’s a great achievement for our older residents and a proud moment for the home. We like to make these birthdays special for them because they are a very valued part of what we do here.” Home Close, which is owned by East Anglian care provider Healthcare Homes, will also hold celebrations when another of its residents, Elsie Morley, turns 100 in October. Chief Executive, Richard Clough added: “We like to recognise important moments in our residents’ lives and it doesn’t get much bigger than a 100th birthday. We’re very pleased that Dulcie and her friends enjoyed her big day.” Staff at Home Close also recently threw a party in the gardens of the home to celebrate the opening of a new extension. The work has included the addition of four new en-suite bedrooms, a large lounge, new bathing facilities, a medication room and a bigger staff room.
