June 29, 2011 - PRLog -- THOUSAND OAKS, CALIF.--Plenty of kid-friendly activities are planned for the third annual Tropical Daze Summer Music Festival set for Saturday and Sunday, July 23 and 24 at the Thousand Oaks Community Park (next to Thousand High School) on Moorpark Road.

For the second year, EARTHS (Environmental Academy for Research Technology of Earth Sciences) Magnet School in Newbury Park will host 10 free science experiment stations. Each station will contain a separate experiment designed for children in kindergarten through fifth grade.

Also back for a second year are exotic birds, including macaws, cockatoos, parakeets, Kookaburras, cockatiels, soft bills and peacocks. Families can have their pictures taken with the birds and learn about these exotic animals from James Krembs, co-owner of The Bird Experience (http://thebirdexperience.com) and known as the "Bird Man of Simi Valley."

The Zootopia (http://www.zootopia.org) booth will give kids a chance to see small animals (i.e., tarantula, bearded dragon, king snake, Russian turtle) up close. Create Studio (http://www.createstudiofun.com/) will offer kids a chance to create hands-on art projects. Tutor Time (http://www.tutortime.com) is presenting story times twice a day with teachers dressed as the Little Mermaid on Saturday and the Cat in the Hat on Sunday. Conejo Valley Recreation and Park District (CRPD) will have its own area of fun activities for kids.

The First 5/Conejo Valley Neighborhood for Learning (http://www.cvnfl.org)   activity area features bubbles, hula-hoops and climbing area especially designed for the preschool set. All proceeds from Tropical Daze will benefit Neighborhood for Learning and its efforts to prepare children ages 0 to five for school and encourage family involvement. It offers child and parenting classes at six sites throughout the Conejo Valley.

"Tropical Daze is a great place to bring the whole family," says Randy Strong, Tropical Daze co-organizer and a partner with Associate Marketers. "The live entertainment, food, activities, tropical-themed booths and laid back atmosphere will make it a perfect California summer weekend."

Tropical Daze is presented in collaboration with the Conejo Recreation & Park District, the City of Thousand Oaks and the Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce.

Hours are 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., both days. For more information, visit http://www.tropicaldaze.org or go to Facebook.com/TropicalDazeFun, Twitter.com/TropicalDazeFun.
