| The Bare Necessities at Fairfield HallsChildhood favourites come to life in this new musical. The sites and sounds of the Jungle Book will entertain families this August
By: Mosaic Publicity It is, of course, the musical version of Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book. This family version has been adapted by Debra James. The musical tells the classic tale of Mowgli, the man cub who has been raised by a family of wolves in the jungle. However Mowgli then finds things not so rosy as he his confronted by the evil Shere Khan who threatens to kill him. But to the rescue comes his wise old teacher Baloo the Bear and Bagheera the Black Panther. They decide there is no choice but to take Mowgli to the safety of the man village. Throughout their journey they encounter danger and surprises and it brings them closer together as they learn the true meaning of friendship. The not-to-be-missed show is on at Ashcroft Hall between 11th and 13th August 2011. Ticket prices start from £8 for under 16s with adult tickets from £12. The Jungle Book stories were first published in 1893 in a series of magazines, containing illustrations by Rudyard’s father, John Lockwood Kipling. Since then the Jungle Book has gone on to be used as a motivational book by the Cub Scouts, because of its moral tone. Akela, the head wolf in The Jungle Book, is a name that has been traditionally adopted by the leader of each Cub Scout pack as a result of the book’s popularity. The show is just one of a number of popular and big name events at the Fairfield Halls over the summer months, which combine comedy, musicals, drama and general entertainment shows.
