Bay Area Pet Fashion Boutique to make World's Ugliest Dog Contestant Feel Pretty

June 21, 2011 - PRLog -- Pacifica, California - June 21, 2011 - Internet dog sensation Cuda the Pit Bull is holding a pre-contest press conference and meet & greet this Thursday, June 23rd from noon to 3pm at AnnaBee's Doggie Boutique & Cafe in Pacifica. Cuda is competing for the title of World's Ugliest Dog 2011 at 6pm the next day at the Sonoma-Marin Fair in Petaluma, California.  Due to her unique look - a fused neck, crooked spine, tilted rib cage, severe underbite, and flat feet - she attracts attention wherever she goes.  But it is Cuda's charming personality that has garnered her over 4,500 worldwide fans on Facebook and nearly 7,500 online votes.  Cuda was entered in the contest to bring awareness to the irresponsible practices of inbreeding, backyard breeding and to promote compassion for pit bulls.  Despite her deformities, Cuda is a healthy happy dog that thoroughly enjoys traveling the nation, sponsoring events, and sharing her message on radio and TV programs such as NBC17 and WRAL5 -(http://www2.nbc17.com/news/2011/jun/16/durham-dog-campaigning-worlds-ugliest-dog-title-ar-1126624/ and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aUm7KDbWY30.)



Preparing for the star's media appearance, AnnaBee's President & Creative Director Maureen Murray describes several challenges. "When we first met Cuda, we quickly realized this was not a normal dog - we had several obstacles on our hands!  Her unique body type makes it hard for her to fit into most dog clothing, so we selected several couture pieces for Cuda to try on.  We are also concerned about her appearing too fashionable which might make her lose the competition.  So, we decided to really focus on making her feel pretty.  We will be serving her a gourmet three-course meal in our dog cafe - a lobster appetizer, organic lamb entree, and cake and ice cream for dessert.  Cuda will also be the first doggie guest to enjoy an aromatherapy whirlpool bath and massage in our brand new dog spa, 'The Bubble Room'."  Cuda's parents, Scott and Julie LeRoy of Durham, North Carolina, hope any pre-contest jitters will float away as she is pampered by the local experts in pet luxury.

Cuda's event is not just about pampering her.  Seeing as the 'pawparazzi' follow her every move, Cuda asked to share the spotlight with other homeless animals, just as she was a year ago when the LeRoys rescued her at a gas station.  Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA will be bringing their mobile adoption truck full of adoptable animals.  All event attendees may enter to win a custom birthday party for their dog in their cafe, a service AnnaBee's is well-known for.

AnnaBee's Doggie Boutique & Cafe, established in December 2009, is a pet fashion boutique that carries couture garments, handmade accessories, and unique eco-friendly toys for cats and dogs.  AnnaBee's was the first to open an indoor dog cafe in the Bay Area, serving canines fresh and organic gourmet meals and baked goodies.
