Masterclass in Learning Technologies a Success for Aurion Learning

Over 50 learning and development professionals from the Irish health sectors gathered in the Education and Research Centre, Our Lady’s Hospice, Dublin on 14 June 2011 to take part in a best practice seminar on online learning.

June 21, 2011 - PRLog -- Masterclass in Learning Technologies: Delivering More for Less was hosted by award winning online learning solutions provider, Aurion Learning.

Paul Gormley, Chair of the Irish Learning Technology Association (ILTA) kicked off proceedings with a motivating opening address. Other speakers included Pat Kenny, E-Learning Project Manager, Health Services Executive (HSE); Pip Hardy, Patient Voices, Pilgrim Projects; Eileen Shinners, Clinical Facilitator, Our Lady’s Hospice; Fergus Thompson, Learning and Development Facilitator, St. James’s Hospital; and Dr. Maureen Murphy, Managing Director, Aurion Learning.

Topics discussed included: how to deliver learning and development with shrinking budgets; making online learning work in the health sector; using learning technologies to build internal capabilities; and using patient stories for learning. Delegates also benefited from case studies featuring the use of blended learning and learning portals within Irish healthcare settings.

Speaking about the event, Dr. Maureen Murphy, Managing Director of Aurion Learning said: “We all recognise that developing and maintaining high standards in education and training is in the interest of patient safety and healthcare. However learning and development professionals in the health sector are faced with real challenges including:

- how to deliver learning and development with ever shrinking budgets;
- how to develop effective online learning; and
- how to get learners to embrace online learning.

The purpose of our Masterclass in Learning Technologies: Delivering More for Less was to open a forum to discuss these issues, and to help those who have a remit for learning and development gain some inspiration about the best way to move forwards. Feedback from the event has been very positive with the vast majority of our guests telling us that the information provided was both helpful and informative.”

Following the success of our Masterclass in Learning Technologies, we’ve had several requests to upload the presentations delivered on the day. You can view them on our website http://www.aurionlearning.com/news/masterclass-in-learnin...
