June 18, 2011 - PRLog -- Palestine’s men fought in all the major battles in the western theatre of the war, while those they left behind at home did what they could to support the war effort.

We will use their own words when possible, through letters and newspaper articles, and provide details from the historical battles such as Shiloh, Vicksburg, and Chickamauga. We will tell their stories interspersed with period music in an effort to transport people back in time to the days of Palestine during the Civil War.

The Palestine Illinois Bicentennial Celebration continues with activities scheduled through out the year. On Saturday, June 25, 2011 "Civil War Night at the Fife" will take a look at Palestine's connection to the War Between the States. Doors will open at 6:00pm and the program will begin at 7:00.

Several items will be on display including some that belonged to Col. Clark Lagow. Tickets are only $5 and will be available at the door. Light refreshment will be served.
