June 8, 2011 - PRLog -- Driving in Arizona can be a little bit different from driving anywhere else in the country.  Airpark Dodge Chrysler Jeep is providing you with a list of top 5 things to know about driving in the Arizona summer heat.

1. Check your tires – Arizona roads get incredibly hot during the summertime. Pavement temperatures soar and can cause a tire blowout. If your tires are over- or under-inflated, worn or not properly aligned, you are at a greater risk of having a blowout. Visit Airpark’s service center for tire checks, alignments and a nitro-fill for your tires.

2. Car battery life – The Arizona heat does a number on your car’s battery. We recommend a replacement every 2½ to 3 years to avoid losing power after you’ve stopped.

3. Maintain you’re A/C system – Is your A/C not as cold as it was last summer? This is a sign that you might be low on refrigerant. Losing your A/C can be a major inconvenience and even a health risk on longer trips. Let Airpark test your refrigerant level and/or refill it for maximum cooling power all summer long.

4. Change your filters – With all of the dust and dirt in our arid climate, regularly replacing your vehicle’s various filters is an important step toward achieving the best possible fuel economy and keeping you and your vehicle healthy.

5. Watch for flash floods and washes – Brief but torrential rains can have devastating effects on the roads and paths that are less commonly traveled in Arizona. Constantly be aware of your surroundings during a storm and do not try to drive over any roadways covered with water.

Keeping these helpful tips in mind can end up saving you big money on repairs during the life of your vehicle. If you happen to blowout a tire, need a battery replacement, A/C fill or any other maintenance or body repair work, schedule an appointment with Airpark’s talented service technicians. We’ll make sure you stay safe on Arizona’s roads this summer and throughout the year!
