June 1, 2011 - PRLog -- Washington, D.C., June 1, 2011 – Fuse Pilates®, a workout method developed in 2005 by Pilates instructor Mariska Breland, today announced the official opening of its first studio in Dupont Circle. The Fuse Pilates Playground opened to meet the demand for its trademarked method of Pilates, which has been taught at area yoga and fitness studios for the last six years. The Playground offers more than 40 group classes per week in three studios, with the Fuse Pilates method incorporated into all group reformer, tower, chair and mat classes, as well as private personal instruction.  Classes are taught by trained instructors and are offered seven days a week, with additional classes also in the works to meet demand.

“Students and other instructors I’ve mentored have helped make the Fuse Pilates method what it is: a challenging but fun and encouraging class that truly redefines a hardcore workout,” said Breland, who created the Fuse Pilates method. “The Fuse Pilates Playground provides an inviting space where students can enjoy the thrill of a workout that is anything but routine, in a welcoming space where they will also have a good time and feel motivated to come back again.”

For the past six years, demand and popularity for Fuse Pilates has consistently grown, requiring Breland to select and teach other instructors the method. Unlike traditional Pilates, Fuse Pilates incorporates elements of yoga, barre, core stability training and other fitness disciplines into a single workout system. Exercises are consistently altered in each class to be customized based on students’ requests for specific muscle groups and choreographed on-the-spot to upbeat music. No two classes are the same, alleviating exercise boredom and fitness plateaus.

The Fuse Pilates Playground is located at 2008 Hillyer Place NW, one block north of the Dupont Circle metro station, off of Connecticut Avenue. The five-story converted mansion features a comfortable lounge, changing area, two group apparatus studios, a group mat studio, and a private studio, complete with reformer, chair and other props to keep students motivated. The Fuse Pilates Playground opens just as the greater Washington metro area was edged out of its first place ranking as the American Fitness Index’s fittest city in the U.S.

“Variety is important and Fuse Pilates workouts keep the muscles and the mind working harder and more effectively than the usual cardio and weights combo,” said Breland, who has lived and worked in D.C. for nine years. “Washingtonians like to be constantly challenged and my hope is that the Fuse Pilates Playground will re-inspire fitness buffs and rookies alike so that D.C. will be back on top by next year, and we want people to have fun while getting there.”
