All the electronics, including the smart card chip, are integrated into the key. Despite the mini size, customers can order specific laser engraving or individual colors. The new UniKey Mini hardware is perfectly suited for notebooks, embedded device, medical devices or controls for machinery and equipment. UniKey Time: A battery powered driverless real time key Although most of devices have an on-board clock built into the smart card chip it is only powered up when the pc is turned on and the dongles is attached. For those cases, where a continuously running clock is required, the UniKey Time contains a battery powered real time clock (RTC). Even if the physical clock is modified, the time on the smart card chip will be correct. UniKey Time was first released in 2008 which is the first battery powered driverless RTC key. After many years, if the battery is empty, the UniKey Mini will continue to work as UniKey PRO key. The UniKey Time combines the benefits of the networking and real time functions.
