Support Cancer Survivorship at Dining for Donation Fundraiser at Applebees benefiting LIVESTRONG

May 26, 2011 - PRLog -- The Mendes Family is hoping to raise $25,000 for the foundation by the end of September in memory of friends and family lost to cancer. This threesome made up of mom, Rica, son Zachary and daughter Ariella, have put on bike rides & runs, charity nights and other local events to support the Lance Armstrong Foundation. Rica and Zachary plan to ride 90-miles with Armstrong and Ariella hopes to run her first 5k during the October LIVESTRONG Challenge in Austin, TX. Last year, mother and son rode 65 miles bearing the names of dozens of cancer fighters from our area at the request of friends, family and community members.

This Dining for Donation Fundraiser is one step along their way to reaching their goal. The program is simple: Bring an event flyer with you (fill out this form to request one: http://fairfieldwestchesterlivestrong.weebly.com/623-mt-kiscobedford-applebees-dining-for-donations-fundraiser.html), present it to your server, and Applebees will donate 10% of your check, excluding tax and gratuity, to the Mendes family's fundraising efforts.

"So many people think that LIVESTRONG is only for cyclists or marathon runners - and that's not the case! Grassroots LIVESTRONG Leaders like me are resources for everyone - from providing support and volunteering with local cancer fighters to fundraising and events for every person. My kids and I never want someone to say, 'Well, I can't ride 100 miles in one day, so it's not for me.' We hope this family friendly, fun event shows that you can support LIVESTRONG by doing something as simple as going out for drinks with some friends or dinner with the family!"
