Blue Inc. launches new program to increase the effectiveness of communication through the use of Beluga, a new group messaging application.

May 24, 2011 - PRLog -- Blue launches a new program to increase the effectiveness of communication across organizational lines. Beginning immediately, the company will use Beluga, a social media application created for smart phones, to facilitate correspondence with other members of the company and of the organization. Through the use of Beluga, Blue "is able to send out mass text messages and alerts to its employees, almost like a modern day, ‘tech savvy’ memo," says HR Manager, Ali Huneke.

This innovative approach to sharing information will increase the breadth of the organizations communication. In addition to facilitating interchange with (and amongst) employees; Nicole Skovgard, Manager, hopes it will give the company a more vertical structure of communication. "Blue has always believed in the importance of teamwork and utilizing the resources and talent of its employees. Beluga will allow us to maximize the talent of our people,” says Skovgard.

The app allows employees of Blue to notify co-workers and other members of their individually-designated network(s) almost instantaneously and through one tap of a finger (assuming Blue’s employees are up to date with the trending ‘touch screens’). Not only can they check the news feed for recent alerts, interact with their colleagues through mass chat rooms (named ‘pods’); but employees can track the exact location of their contacts at any given moment.  

Beluga was founded by CEO, Ben Davenport, a graduate of both Princeton University and the University of Washington. Prior to the Beluga project, Davenport worked at Google with the development of AdSense. The makers of Beluga sum up their view of the application in their slogan:  “It’s instant, intimate and simple.
