Supply of raw materials, such as corncob, corn starch and glucose, the three major raw materials for sugar alcohols production, has been tight in recent year and raw materials’ cost has been rising. How greatly do they affect sugar alcohols production and how do Chinese players deal with such challenges?

Technology improvement may be a good choice. Though chemical pathway is the major method for producing sugar alcohols in China and has been mature by now, some kinds of sugar alcohols have started to be produced biotechnology.
