It’s time to limber up for the Admiral Swansea Bay 10K

May 23, 2011 - PRLog -- Runners from all over the UK and Europe are now being encouraged to get their trainers on and enter the annual Admiral Swansea Bay 10k which takes place in Swansea on Sunday 25 September.

With a flat, fast scenic course with views of Swansea Bay, the ever-popular road race is recognized as one of the UK’s premier races, ideal for runners of all abilities aged 15+.  In addition to the main 10k race there will also be a 10k wheelchair race along with four other junior age group races covering 5k, 3k and 1k for runners aged 20 and under.

Entry to the Admiral Swansea Bay 10k race is £15.00 for UKA Affiliated runners and £17.00 for non UKA affiliated runners and entrants can save money by entering online at www.swanseabay10k.com.  

Councillor Graham Thomas, Swansea Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture, Tourism and Recreation said, “The Admiral Swansea Bay 10k has long been recognised as one of the leading road races in the UK.  It is a popular event suitable for runners of all abilities including children who can compete in a number of junior races.”  

“This year the capacity for the main 10K race has been increased to 4000 entrants due to demand, but I encourage people to secure their place early as the maximum capacity has been reached prior to the closing date for the last 5 years.”

Runners can enter online or pick up an entry form from any Active Swansea leisure centre.  The website is also fully loaded with information, training tips and running plans to help the less experienced runners.  

Spaces are limited for both the main 10k race and junior races with entries closing on 31 August or when maximum capacity is reached.

The Admiral Swansea Bay 10k is part of the inaugural Run Britain Grand Prix race series and is kindly sponsored by Admiral Group and supported by Bay Radio, Active Swansea, Road Safety, Days Motor Group, Subway and Unilever.
