The event was held at award-winning champagne lounge JuJu in Chelsea. AMAZON EVE, the world’s tallest super model, attended the event, the evening was hosted by SALLY FARMILOE-NEVILLE, and MoD announced the winner of their Competition to be the Face of Models of Diversity 2011 during the event. The guest list included Cerrie Burnell, TV Presenter; Emmanuel Ray, Britain's first It Boy; Chelsey Baker; Liz Brewer; Catherine Balavage; Ben Duncan; Ian Carmichael, the Queen's hairdresser; and more. Special guest entertainment included the comedy duo TeakShow, the crooner Don Wilson and Lipstick Bandits Burlesque. The catwalk show featured the up-and- coming designer Bo Carter, as well as Hoss Intropia, Semon Cashmere and Toni Pickles of Get Waisted. Models of Diversity is a London-based non-profit organization, whose mission is to change the face of fashion and modelling. They advocate for more diversity in models and demand that the fashion and marketing industries recognise the beauty in people of all races, ages, shapes, sizes and abilities. The crowd was wowed by MoD’s showcase of top disabled, plus-sized, mature, petite, and androgynous models as well as models of colour. Scouts from top model agencies Nevs and Ugly were there, and some of the models are now being signed to these agencies. www.modelsofdiversity.org www.treeofhope.org.uk www.sugargroup.co.uk www.najlaajabri.co.uk --------------------------------------------------ENDS------ Editor’s Notes IMAGES ARE AVAILABLE Contact: Angel Sinclair Tel: 07932079974 E-Mail: angel@sinclairmanagement.co.uk www.sinclairmanagement.co.uk www.jujulondon.com www.ginaconway.co.uk Angel Sinclair started the Models of Diversity campaign after she appeared on Gok Wan’s ‘Miss Naked Beauty’ in 2008. Angel was struck by the great variety of beautiful women participating in the event, and how this contrasted with the narrow range we see in the fashion industry. That’s when she decided with Sally Williams, her Co-Founder, to promote models that reflect the wonderful diversity in society. Hence, the seeds for ‘Models of Diversity’ were sown. They hold street surveys, produce catwalk shows and photo shoots, sponsor workshops for people with disabilities and promote their models in the media. Using social networking websites they spread the word to a much wider audience and currently have over 10,000 followers on Facebook and Twitter. They are now officially endorsed by the British Fashion Council as well. Hair styling provided by Gina Conway Aveda Salon and Spas. Styling by Najlaa Jabri. Clothing and accessory donations from Get Waisted, Bo Carter, Hoss Intropia, Dorothy Perkins, Topman, Debenhams, Primark, Evans, Wonderbra, Semon Cashmere, Danielle Liane, N’ykd Designs, and Josh Hypnotikartz. Catwalk training and direction provided by Shanna-Melissa Alexander. Ilda di Vico lent her couture hats to the show. The event was supported by Bubblegum Events Company and Sugargroup. Free water and a VIP for the after party were graciously donated by Glaceau Vitamin Water, and Amika Club in Kensington. # # # MODELS OF DIVERSITY is a London based nonprofit organization which advocates for more diversity in models and demands that the fashion and marketing industries recognise the beauty in women and men of all varieties! www.modelsofdiversity.org End
