Good design pays off for central Indiana architects

May 12, 2011 - PRLog -- INDIANAPOLIS– Seven projects designed by five Indianapolis-area architecture firms received Excellence Awards by the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Indianapolis as part of its biennial awards competition.

Judged by a panel of architects from South Carolina, the competition showcases the value of good design and awards architects for their achievements in new design, historic preservation, interior design and renovations.

BSA LifeStructures received two honor awards, one for the renovation and addition to Lakeland Healthcare inpatient pavilion in Lakeland, Mich., and another for the design of the Indiana University Innovation Center in Bloomington.

AXIS Architecture + Interiors received an honor award for its interior design of the Business Furniture Showroom in Indianapolis. AXIS also received a merit award for The Nature Conservancy headquarters.

HAUS | The Architecture Studio and ONE 10 Studio received a Citation Award for its design of
Brand Photo Design Studio, Fishers.

Moody Nolan’s historic renovation of the Historic (Kentucky) State Theater in Elizabeth, Ky.

Shimizu & Coggeshall Architects received a Merit Award for a private residence, called Tuna Canyon, in Topanga, Calif.
