May 12, 2011 - PRLog -- Shmirshky, a popular blog, resource center and message board, offers help to women currently struggling with the challenges of perimenopause and menopause symptoms. Though their website and all of the information contained within it are available free of charge, Shmirshky also offers a book, released by Hyperion/VOICE entitled "Shmirshky: the pursuit of hormone happiness"  by E, which contains information, stories, and ideas for living with and minimizing the effects of perimenopause and menopause. Included in the menopause books is a Shmirshky Daily Symptoms Chart, which helps women track their perimenopause symptoms and menopause symptoms effectively so that they can work closely with their doctors to find the menopause help they deserve.

When you first visit the Shmirshky homepage, you’ll have the opportunity to sign up for the organization’s free email newsletter, which publishes menopause and perimenopause tips on a regular basis. Here, you’ll also be able to follow Shmirshky on Twitter or become a fan of the Shmirshky Facebook page with only a few clicks.

The Shmirshky blog section includes regularly updated blog posts on a variety of topics related to menopause and perimenopause. Recent blog article titles include, “Let’s Go Streaking” (an article about the value of occasionally going in public without makeup), and “What Does it Take to Celebrate YOU?” (about the importance enjoying the journey on the way to achieving your goals). Shmirshky does not stray away from controversial or racy topics, and includes several articles devoted to sex, relationships and personal health topics.

The Shmirshky message board is another section of the Shmirshky website where women can receive information related to perimenopause and menopause, which Shmirshky refers to simply as PM&M. Using the message board, you can share information, advice and stories with other men and women currently facing the challenges of menopause symptoms and perimenopause. The message board is free to use following a simple registration process, and the owner of Shmirshky (who goes by the handle E) regularly answers questions and jumps in on discussions.

The Media and Press portion of the Shmirshky website includes several examples of publicity for Shmirshky, including videos, pictures, press releases and news articles. Interested parties can view the Shmirshky Videos area to find a link to their YouTube channel, which regularly posts videos from E regarding menopause symptoms and how to deal with them.

If you’re visiting Shmirshky for the first time, it’s advisable to click the Shmirshky Lingo link located in the top menu bar. Here, you’ll find definitions for terms created by and frequently used on the site (“shmirshky” means vagina and women, while “erlick” means penis and men, for example), as well as definitions for medical terms such as perimenopause, premenopause, premature menopause, postmenopause and other medical issues that have symptoms similar to menopause symptoms, such as hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism.

Those who familiarize themselves with the Shmirshky terms should then visit the Resources section, which includes detailed information regarding menopause symptoms, living with perimenopause and menopause, and a daily symptoms chart to help you to track your menopause symptoms and comfortably present them to your doctor. Other resources include pieces written by E specifically for menopausal women, such as “Preventing Divorce Through Menopause,” “A Quick Guide to Menopausal Hot Flashes,” and “Dueling Hormones – When Puberty and Menopause Collide.“
