May 10, 2011 - PRLog -- GLASGOW, UK, MAY 9th 2011 – NAFEMS, the International Association for the Engineering Analysis Community is holding its 2011 World Congress in the next few weeks between the 23rd and 26th of May in Boston, MA, USA and with limited places remaining, time is running out to get involved with the forthcoming event.

The NAFEMS World Congress, sponsored by Simulia, is the only event dedicated to showcasing the state-of-the-art and state-of -practice in the simulation world in an impartial forum, open to everyone with an interest in how to get the most from their use of simulation. The highly anticipated event will be attended by over 300 delegates – our largest attendance at a World Congress so far. With over 150 presentations in more than 40 sessions, it signifies the most comprehensive and wide-ranging collection of analysis and simulation specific papers available from one independent, international event, so there is little surprise that the Congress is nearly at full capacity. However, there is still an opportunity to secure one of the remaining places at the event!

“The response for this year’s congress has been phenomenal, making it our largest ever. We are extremely confident that it will not only be our biggest event to date, but also our best. ” – David Quinn, Head of Marketing & Communications at NAFEMS

NAFEMS is also excited to announce the very recent addition of Dr Ahmed Noor of Old Dominion University to the already impressive list of keynote speakers. Dr Noor’s presentation will focus on the use of “virtual worlds” for CAE product development and training, which is sure to one of the highlights of the congress. Dr Noor is a Fellow of the National Institute of Aerospace (NIA), the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, American Society of Mechanical Engineers, American Society of Civil Engineers, the American Academy of Mechanics, and the U.S. Association for Computational Mechanics; as well as being a Founding Member of both the International and U.S. Associations of Computational Mechanics, and is a Past President of USACM.

His current professional focus is intelligent design and synthesis environments, advanced learning technologies, aerospace structures, structural and computational mechanics, multiscale modeling, simulation and visualization, and new computing systems. As a renowned scholar, the addition of Dr Noor to the current list of keynote speakers is already causing excitement amongst delegates and is sure to result in a final surge of registrations before the event so those interested should register now or miss out!

As well as the above, this year’s congress will provide delegates with:
•   keynotes from the other leading minds in the analysis community
•   approx. 170 presentations in 6 technical tracks
•   a choice of free training courses to attend
•   focus sessions on Composites, Stochastics, SDM, HPC and more
•   an exhibition featuring all of the top software vendors in the industry
•   social and networking opportunities included as part of your registration

Representatives from the world’s largest corporations have already confirmed their attendance at the event, and will mingle alongside delegates from academic institutions, 'one-man' consultancies, software vendors and others, with one common goal - to learn and share experience in engineering analysis, simulation, and associated technologies, in order to positively impact on their products, processes and bottom line.

One of the highlights of the congress will be the short training courses which are INCLUDED in the registration fee. There will be courses run in:
•   Non-Linear Analysis
•   Composite FE Analysis
•   Dynamic FE Analysis
•   Fatigue & Fracture Mechanics in FE Analysis

These courses will be led by Tony Abbey who has created and taught a wide range of FEA based training classes over the past 15 years. He has developed a reputation for providing the student with an experience which draws on insight gained through his extensive experience, but which also challenges and motivates those involved. Tony has a wealth of experience and has been working with FEA for over 30 years, both in Industry and for FEA software providers in the UK and the US.

His informal and interactive presentation style allows the key concepts to be taught in a manner which involves participants fully in the course material. Mr Abbey has been extensively involved with NAFEMS and is widely respected within the industry for the delivery of our e-learning and face-to-face courses. The training courses at the congress are an excellent bonus for delegates and we thoroughly encourage those attending the congress to take advantage of these.

From the training courses, to the keynote speakers, to focus sessions, this year’s congress is bursting with value, and provide a prime opportunity for all those attending. With the event only a few weeks away this is the very last opportunity to secure your place at the congress.

“The world congress represents real value for delegates”, Tim Morris, NAFEMS CEO commented “This is our flagship event and is really an essential part of what NAFEMS does as an organisation – connecting everyone involved in analysis and simulation”.
