May 5, 2011 - PRLog -- What do a Harley Davidson builder; former English bloke who brews his own beer; ex-military, extreme skier; and a 3rd degree black belt in karate have in common?

They are four friends from New Hampshire who call themselves, “Project Pawsitive” and are on a mission to rebuild no-kill animal rescues in critical need and on the verge of collapse and closure. No matter what it takes. No matter the hours. No matter the fight. No matter the struggle. They find the money and the manpower and make it all happen.

Jill Sullivan Grueter is the team leader, JB Byrne is the project manager, Drew Davis is the Jack of All Trades, and Simon Mcaslister is the Master Electrician. Their first renovation started in 2009. The team went to a horse rescue in Epping, NH and witnessed the struggles that the volunteers were silently losing their battles with. It changed the team forever. They could never turn their backs.

One female volunteer with an debilitating back injury was wrapping a hose around her waist several times and physically dragging it over 500 yards away to provide fresh water for a blind rescue and his seeing-eye-companion. Another volunteer was checking large green tarps that were strewn across the inside of the rescue barn’s roof sheltering the horses (rescued from slaughter and abuse) from holes where water was pouring in and rooting it to the point of collapse. The repairs and needs were endless and the torturous worry on the volunteers’ faces was undeniable. They worked tirelessly and with no pay, day and night, to provide a better life for the horses that would have otherwise met their demise (many on their way to the slaughter pens – where they would have been gruesomely killed).

What would be their fate? Would they be able to survive the economic crisis? How long would their barn last?

That’s where Project Pawsitive stepped in and changed fate. They used their tenured experience in carpentry, construction, electrical work, and project management to gain attention and rope in the help of one of the largest home supply stores in the country along with over 80 local volunteers and they got the job done. The result? Any awesome renovation, restored hope, and renewed faith; all in the matter of a week and to the tune of about $45,000.

Their next renovation happening in a short, few months will test them greatly. They will tear down and rebuild a greyhound rescue beyond any repair. Whatever it takes – they are willing to do it. There is nothing getting in their way of changing the fate of the rescues that give everything to saving the lives of the animals that can’t save themselves.
