In The Rooms And American Idol's Steven Tyler Present Legendary Rocker Richie Supa With Award

Singer/Songwriter Richie Supa Receives The Adam “DJ AM” Goldstein Recovery Advocacy Award At The 15th Annual PRISM Awards

May 2, 2011 - PRLog -- Richie Supa, a singer/songwriter with over 200 cuts and four solo albums, received The Adam "DJ AM" Goldstein Recovery Advocacy Award from the Entertainment Industries Council, Inc. (EIC) Friday night at the 15th Annual PRISM Awards. Supa was recognized for his work with Narcotics Anonymous for the past 22 years and his other extensive involvement with recovery programs. The award was presented to Supa by Aerosmith front man Steven Tyler, who currently serves as one of the judges on TV's "American Idol."

Supa received a 2009 PRISM Award for his song "In the Rooms" and has continued to be a huge proponent for the In The Rooms global recovery community, which has become the most widely recognized and frequented social networking site in existence for those interested in recovery. In The Rooms founders, Ken Pomerance and Ron Tannebaum were on hand with Tyler to support Supa, who has become one of In The Rooms’ biggest supporters.

Supa launched his career with the legendary Long Island band The Rich Kids who were signed by Clive Davis to Columbia Records. Richie later became a staff writer at EMI Music for 18 years and went on to a Broadway career that included the lead role in Hair. He continues as a solo artist and also does extensive touring with Aerosmith.

For the last ten years he has been doing hospital and institution work, taking NA meetings into jails and rehab centers and helping to educate kids about addiction. He was also involved in the Musicians Assistance Program to help people in the music industry find recovery. He works closely with InTheRooms.com and Rockers in Recovery, performing at many drug-free concerts, and using his gift of songwriting to write songs about addiction to raise awareness.

Supa's compositions recorded by some of the biggest recording stars have sold over 35 million copies. These recording artists include Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, Ozzy Osbourne, Mika, Pink, Johnny Winter, Levon Helm, Tom Jones, Air Supply, Glenn Campbell, and Willie Nelson, to name a few. His songs have appeared in Disney movies and other feature films and network TV shows.

The evening will be telecast on flagship airing partner FX as well as National Geographic Channel, ReelzChannel, E! On Demand, and other networks, and will be featured at a special Capitol Hill Showcase in Washington, DC on September 25th as a celebration of National Recovery Month. Variety and The Hollywood Reporter are media partners for the PRISM Awards.
