April 30, 2011 - PRLog -- A message from the Founder of the Silver Star Families of America.

Since 1918 a simple sewed Silver Star has represented a Soldier that has been wounded or “invalided home. This tradition died out until resurrected by the SSFOA in 2004 and since that time we have remembered our wounded, ill, injured and dying every May 1st. Since its passage by Congress Silver Star Service Banner Day will forever remind us of our promise:

OUR PLEDGE TO THE WOUNDED, ILL AND DYING OF OUR ARMED FORCES

We pledge on our honor
To remember and assist the wounded and ill of our Armed Forces
From ALL wars to the best of our ability
We pledge that we will never forget
That we will always remember
The sacrifice you have made
The blood, sweat, and tears that you shed
Will remain on our minds and in our hearts
And we will forever be grateful
We pledge that we will remind others
So that all remember
That you gave up so much
So that this Nation would not perish from the face of the earth
God bless the United States of America!

We urge all our Silver Star States, counties, cities and towns across this great Nation to use this opportunity to reach out to those who have sacrificed so much for us. Tell a vet “thank you” and maybe visit a V.A. hospital.

War does not end with the cessation of hostilities. Sometimes that is only the beginning of the fight our warriors must endure. Whether in body or mind, war can inflict casualties long after it is over.

Let’s not forget our obligations and let’s not forget to say thank you.

May God bless our warriors and may He continue to bless the United States.

Steve Newton
