-- Shanye Huang’s selection is especially significance, since this is one of only 130 works in all media by over 90 artists selected from nearly a thousand entries representing over 30 distinct cultures from 50 different countries across several centuries. The roster includes many renowned contemporary artists representing five continents as well as such stalwarts as Warhol, Dali, Rockwell, Tissot, Whistler and Rembrandt.
Conceived around four universal themes of love, faith, shame, and hope, the exhibition will show how all humans, irrespective of cultural differences, share a common life experience. Work was selected by the following criteria: representation of exhibition theme; cultural identification;
quality of the artwork; and artist reputation and credentials.
Shanye Huang, born in Guangxi, China, was professionally trained in both Guangxi Institute of Art and Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, China. Huang's art deeply rooted in the Chinese folk arts, culture and yin-yang philosophy are abundant in detail and extravagant in color. His work TAPESTRY OF DREAMS has been made into a ballet and premiered in New York in 2009.
