April 30, 2011 - PRLog -- The original Milestone was a breakthrough smartphone for Motorola as it was their first successful touchscreen device and reaffirmed the company's position in the newly emerging touchscreen market. Also known as the Droid in the United States, the phone has become an extremely popular Android device that has spawned a number of follow on handsets in its name. The Milestone 3 is the next in line and while Motorola is tight lipped about exactly what is in store there are certain specifications that are known to be making an appearance on the phone.

This will be the first dual core Milestone and is likely to feature a dual core 1GHz CPU. With its release pegged for later in the year it is also possible that it could come with a faster 1.2GHz processor, as this will likely be the industry standard by that point. Combined with 1GB RAM this will make this the most powerful Milestone by far and there are some suggesting that this version may be compatible with the webtop docking ports of the Motorola Atrix.

The screen of the new Milestone will be increased in size to a more spacious 4.3" and will feature a much sharper qHD resolution. With Gorilla Glass to protect against scratches, multitouch support on offer from the capacitive design the new Milestone may also come with the biometric fingerprint scanner that was employed on the earlier Atrix phone.

The famous QWERTY keyboard of the Milestone phones which has been a large part of their popularity will of course feature on this latest model, although it will have a slightly redesigned 5 row layout. This will improve typing speed and performance and greatly complement the email, messaging and social networking features on board.

The Milestone 3 is to come with a 5 megapixel camera including HD video support, either in the form of 720p video or more likely 1080p. These videos along with pictures captured on the camera will be easy to upload to sites like Picasa and Facebook thanks to the improved 3G and Wi-Fi connections on board, including faster HSPA and DLNA support. The Milestone 3 will also come with access to Android Market with thousands of great games and apps on offer.

Running on Android Gingerbread the Milestone 3 will also quite likely see support for Android Ice Cream Sandwich when it is released at a later date. As with previous versions of the phone this latest Milestone is going to prove to be hugely popular thanks to the Android OS and the excellent QWERTY keyboard that will make it a perfect messaging phone, while at the same time packing all of the excellent entertainment features of a modern Android smartphone.

This will be the first dual core Milestone making it far speedier than earlier models and an improved qHD display offers some better visuals for things like games and video content. The QWERTY keyboard is now even more improved than earlier models and with this becoming an increasingly rare feature on touchscreen phones it will give the Milestone 3 even more appeal.
