The main event spotlight shines on one of the most unique professional fighters ever to come out of Japan, Shigeki Osawa and a Canadian MMA Fighter that will be announced as soon as UFC 129 has ended. I’m beyond excited,” says Jason Porter Vice President of Sales and Operations at CEMMA. “We’ Shigeki Osawa is a Japanese professional mixed martial artist who competes in the featherweight division. A professional MMA competitor since 2009, Shigeki has an MMA record of 6-1. Co-headlining the main event is the “Battle of Canada”; Ontario’s golden boy Josh Powell faces Lethbridge Alberta native Chase Degenhardt in what is sure to be a complete and all-out war. Josh, with a record of 4-0, is looking to solidify his perfect record against his hungry adversary Degenhardt who has a record of 7-2 going in to the Hexagon. “Seriously, I don’t know what to expect on May 28th, Josh is a fantastic wrestler with a perfect record behind him, and Chase, he’s a fierce Muay Thai fighter looking to show Ontario what Alberta is all about,” states Porter. “How can you predict a winner? You can’t. I’m just looking forward to seeing these two fighters square off.” Josh is joined by his twin brother Joel who is coming off a historic win, choking out Brandt Dewsberry of Lethbridge, Alta., at four minutes 54 seconds of the second round on April 2, 2011. Joel is set to face another Alberta fighter, Jarod (The Milkman) Milko who is definitely looking to redeem his only loss on April 2, 2011. “Here are the facts. One, MMA is North America’s fastest growing sport. Two, Toronto has more devoted fans than anywhere else in the world. Three, As soon as UFC 129 is over and Osawa’s opponent can legally commit to the card, and then CEMMA will announce it,” Porter continues. “This is something CEMMA has been looking forward to since Ontario legally sanctioned MMA, and to have Guy Mezger commentate it, well says it all doesn’t it.
