April 27, 2011 - PRLog -- The debate is over, and it’s proven.  CEMMA along with UFC legend Guy Mezger have just declared a “Global Warning”, Toronto Ontario is now the Mecca of MMA and they’re about to prove it.

On May 28th, 2011 at the Toronto International Centre, CEMMA will provide Canadian fight fans with one of the best non-title fight cards in recent memory.  The main event spotlight shines on one of the most unique professional fighters ever to come out of Japan, Shigeki Osawa and a Canadian MMA Fighter that will be announced as soon as UFC 129 has ended.

Tickets can be purchased at http://cemma.eventbrite.com/

“Excited?  I’m beyond excited,” says Jason Porter Vice President of Sales and Operations at CEMMA.  “We’re about to have a battle that the world is about to witness.  From British Columbia to Japan, MMA fans across the globe are counting the days between now and May 28th.  I can’t wait to announce who Shigeki will be fighting; I guarantee you will be surprised. ”

Shigeki Osawa is a Japanese professional mixed martial artist who competes in the featherweight division.  A professional MMA competitor since 2009, Shigeki has an MMA record of 6-1.

Co-headlining the main event is the “Battle of Canada”; Ontario’s golden boy Josh Powell faces Lethbridge Alberta native Chase Degenhardt in what is sure to be a complete and all-out war.  Josh, with a record of 4-0, is looking to solidify his perfect record against his hungry adversary Degenhardt who has a record of 7-2 going in to the Hexagon.

“Seriously, I don’t know what to expect on May 28th, Josh is a fantastic wrestler with a perfect record behind him, and Chase,  he’s a fierce Muay Thai fighter looking to show Ontario what Alberta is all about,” states Porter.  “How can you predict a winner?  You can’t.  I’m just looking forward to seeing these two fighters square off.”

Josh is joined by his twin brother Joel who is coming off a historic win, choking out Brandt Dewsberry of Lethbridge, Alta., at four minutes 54 seconds of the second round on April 2, 2011.  Joel is set to face another Alberta fighter, Jarod (The Milkman) Milko who is definitely looking to redeem his only loss on April 2, 2011.

“Here are the facts. One, MMA is North America’s fastest growing sport.  Two, Toronto has more devoted fans than anywhere else in the world. Three, As soon as UFC 129 is over and Osawa’s opponent can legally commit to the card, and then CEMMA will announce it,” Porter continues. “This is something CEMMA has been looking forward to since Ontario legally sanctioned MMA, and to have Guy Mezger commentate it, well says it all doesn’t it.

The fight card also sees,

Troy Sheridan (Team Ultimate ) vs Jorge Ramos (Team Thunder)

Joel Powell (Mair MMA) vs. Jarod Milko (Progressive FA/ Unified MMA)

Jason Saggo (Mair MMA) vs. Derek Boyle (Progressive FA/Jackson's MMA)

Jason Sampson (Mohler MMA) vs Brent Fryia  ( Daegu MMA)

Derek Campos (Guy Mezgers Combat Sports)  vs Douglas Edwards Team Thunder
