May 4, 2011 - PRLog -- Excessive back sweating is a HUGE problem. If your back is constantly sweating, you’ve no doubt had to put up with embarrassing stains on the back of your shirts. You also know how itchy the problem can be. It can be difficult to go out in public when your back is perspiring like crazy.

As annoying as this problem is, it’s still treatable. No, treating it isn’t always easy, but it’s not impossible either. It all depends on the underlying cause, the severity of the problem, and YOU. No two people are exactly alike, so not all treatments will work for you.

In order to treat back hyperhidrosis, you need to understand why people sweat in the first place. Everyone sweats for two reasons: to keep the body temperature down and to flush away toxins.

Where do these toxins come from?

•   Certain foods
•   Sugary drinks
•   Alcohol
•   Illegal drugs
•   Prescription drugs ( if abused)

Sometimes the toxins are on the skin. If you don’t wash your back every day, then you’re giving bacteria time to accumulate. When the perspiration comes in contact with the bacteria, your back will break out big time!

As for your body temperature, you need to stay away from stimulants if you don’t want your body to sweat so much. Do you take diet pills? Do you drink a lot of caffeine? What about energy drinks? All of these trigger the sweat glands.

Now that you have some idea of why your back sweats so much, here are some tips for dealing with the sweating problem:

•   Start showering more. Take at least two showers every single day. Wash your back thoroughly. Avoid using a scented soap. Scented soaps and body washes contain a lot of chemicals and they won’t help your sweating problem any. Use a good organic, anti-bacterial soap.

•   Watch what you wear! If you wear tight, clingy shirts and/or bras, then the sweat will become trapped. This will only make the problem worse. Only wear loose clothes that will give your skin a chance to breathe. Wear a size larger than your usual size.

•   Body powder helps to absorb sweat. Get some talc, baby powder, or cornstarch and pour some on your back before getting dressed. Not only will it protect you from excessive sweating, it will also prevent body odor and bacteria growth!

•   Make sure you get PLENTY of exercise. Exercise improves the body’s overall circulation, thus resulting in less sweating overtime. With poor circulation, the body has a hard time maintaining its internal temperature. This leads to more back sweating! It’s in your best interest to exercise at least four days a week.

•   Relax! Anxiety is a huge trigger of sweating. The more anxious or upset you feel, the more you will sweat. Learn how to take control of any situation so that you can stay calm and focused. You may also want to improve your self-esteem so that you don’t worry so much about unnecessary things.

•   You could always give herbal remedies a try. Some herbs have been used for centuries to treat back sweating problems. Sage is a really good choice. You can simply drink sage tea twice a day to prevent excessive perspiration. Other herbal remedies that are believed to help include witch hazel, eucalyptus, horsetail, nettle leaves, and lemon balm.

Not every treatment is guaranteed to work. Nevertheless you may still want to try these tips to see if they are effective for you.
