Follow on Google News | Rebuilding Together Howard County To Renovate 25 Homes On National Rebuilding Day10-Day Count Down has begun! On Saturday, April 30, 2011, an army of volunteers from 21 businesses and organizations will renovate 23 Howard County homes and two nonprofit facilities in celebration of Rebuilding Together’s National Rebuilding Day.
By: SOS Interactive Marketing Rebuilding Together Howard County will kick-off the day at Humanim where an 85-member volunteer team will replace tile and add curtains in both first floor restrooms, and re-caulk the sinks in both rooms; repair the walls and paint the walls in as much of the client areas of the first floor as possible; replace cabinets in the kitchen and add storage shelves; add a curtain to divide the main room in the deaf services area; and repair the walls in the Art room and install a “working wall” wall covering if possible. TD Ameritrade is a Rebuilding Together Howard County sponsor at the $10,000 sponsorship level. TD Ameritrade is also contributing an additional $10,000 for repairs. “This is the second year that TD Ameritrade has generously sponsored a Rebuilding Together Howard County project and provided a team of dedicated volunteers,” Humanim, a non-profit organization based in Columbia, Maryland, identifies those in greatest need and provides uncompromised, individualized human services. Humanim’ case management, in-home support services, mental health services, job readiness, job development, job placement, job coaching, day rehabilitation, career assessment, and transportation. This volunteer activity brings together people from all walks of life and celebrates the diversity of all our residents. Over 800 volunteers have already committed to Rebuilding Day 2011 including representatives from several local businesses, congregations, civic organizations, and schools. “Through our rebuilds this week, we’re bringing warmth, safety and accessibility to homeowners who do not have the financial or physical wherewithal to complete home repairs and other necessary improvements,” The local 2011 Rebuilding Day sponsors and participants include: Appalachian Service Project, Bet Aviv Jewish Congregation, Capital One Bank, Columbia Ski Club, The Columbia Bank, Dale Linthicum Memorial, Dale Linthicum Memorial, First Potomac Realty Trust, Glenelg Country School, Hamel Builders, Home Builders Association of Maryland Foundation, Honeywell, Linden Linthicum United Methodist Church, M&T Bank, Columbia Jewish Congregation, Sandy Spring Bank, Smith Barney, TD Ameritrade, Lowes, Sears’ Heroes at Home program, and the Howard County Government.
