Follow on Google News | April 30 deadline creates extremely rare collectible bookAmerican author Doug Shiloh is revamping his 2008 novel POOKOO with a revision and goodies. So that means his current Amazon bestseller will become a collectible. Read how you can get on the rare book train.
The novel, which is in Amazon's Top 75 for Satire this weekend, follows the exploits of an ex-Olympian with a wild ego and huge sex drive, set in 1991 Chicago. It's a satire of celebrity culture. "When guys like Tiger Woods or Charlie Sheen make headlines, I think of 'Pookoo'," Shiloh said. There is even a Facebook page dedicated to the relevance of this book to current news stories. The cover was designed by Pete Knipschield, who worked on Michael Jordan's book "For Love of the Game." But doing away with that e-book giveaway also means that the current print-on-demand first edition paperback of "Pookoo" will be a rare book indeed. Homefield Multimedia's Mike Pace said, "In the scope of that there are 4,000 e-copies of "Pookoo" but under 100 paperbacks out there, you get the picture. Then if it's autographed, that changes everything." The author will honor all first edition autograph requests. To request an autograph, enclose a SASE shipping envelope with the book. E-mail bessamail@yahoo.com for more information. "Pookoo" sells on Amazon.com for $8.95 paperback, or $7.95 for the Kindle. Shiloh is revamping his web site and promises good things to come for Pookooians (what fans of the book are called). Shiloh will perform at live readings in the Chicago area in 2011.
