Follow on Google News | Planning, Preparation and a Fighting/Winning Mentality are the Cornerstones of my BusinessWhile Rob Horrocks was reading the paper earlier on this week, he read a story about a Ghurkha (Acting Sgt Dipprasad Pun, 31) who single handily fought off 30 Taliban militants and is now due to receive the 2nd highest military honour for bravery.

Think about a project that you have to manage, the deadline you have to meet, or the extremely important presentation you have to deliver with excellence. Each of these tasks requires preparation, planning and personal readiness. You will definitely encounter hurdles, challenges and obstacles that you will have to overcome. Success is your ultimate goal. This is all true for fighters as well as business owners and entrepreneurs.” Chinese general and military strategist Sun-Tzu (who wrote the book ‘The Art of War’ which Mr. Horrocks uses as one of his guide for business) said “Victorious warriors win first and then go to war, while defeated warriors go to war first and then seek to win.” Great fighters set goals for themselves to guide their training. Each goal is embedded in a larger overall goal. “Goals give yourself something specific to strive for and when you reach that goal, the feelings you get can be indescribable) One of the most inspiring qualities of champion fighters is their mental toughness – the ability to persist through adversity; to never quit. As Winston Churchill said “If you are going through hell just keep going, otherwise you will never get out.” “Effective goals are driven by your motivation. Proper motivation provides you with your will to win… or to succeed. Whether you are a fighter or a business person, you have to understand what drives you if you are going to excel. It’s not enough just to want it; you have to let nothing stand in your way and you have to be able to draw a source of inner strength that will propel you in the direction you want to go” said Horrocks during a meeting with his team. Tony Yeates followed on to say “Think about your short and long-term objectives. Think about where you want to be in your chosen field one year from now. Then make a plan – marked by a set of short-term goals – to make it happen.” Tony Yeates is aiming to be the next person promoted up an executive level within the next couple of months. “Plans are valuable. Goals are great. Let them work for you even if you do not reach them. My goal is to be promoted within the next 8 weeks and this is one goal that I will definitely be hitting” laughed Tony. Continuing the theme of a fighting mentality Rob Horrocks (of Filipino origin) is looking forward to watching the up and coming Manny Pacquiao (Filipino champion boxer) fight against Sugar Shane Mosley early next month. Bruce Lee (a favourite fighter of Mr. Horrocks) once said “A goal is not always meant to be reached; it often serves simply as something to aim at” Rob Horrocks is also an avid airsoft fighter and is going to an airsoft battle next month with some of his team and the Godfather of his Son Logan - Eddy Gallagher. Judging by the picture of Rob and Ed, these are two guys that I would not want to face in any sort of situation; be it business, pleasure or even airsofting! # # # About Pegasus Business Corporation: End
