April 1, 2011 - PRLog -- Raleigh, NC – The NC State University Entrepreneurship Initiative (EI) will be hosting the 2011 Prometheus Group eGames.  The eGames are a celebration of the spirit of student entrepreneurship across all colleges and disciplines at NC State.  Sponsored by the Huang Family Foundation, the final rounds of the competition and awards will be held on April 21, 2011 at the McKimmon Center at NC State located at 1101 Gorman Street.  This event is free and open to the public.

Earlier this year, the NC State University Entrepreneurship Initiative (EI) kicked off the 2011 Prometheus Group eGames with “A Revolution in Recycling” competition on the NC State Campus supported by Coca-Cola, where each class level was challenged to compete and see which student class could collect the most recyclables.  Students will continue to compete for medals and prizes totaling $30,000 in Business Plan, Website Redesign, Coca-Cola Sustainability and Design & Prototype categories.  The eGames are open to all full-time and part-time NC State students, graduate and undergraduate.

“This year’s eGames promises to be the best ever, thanks to the generous support of Eric and Amy Huang.  We look forward to having our most creative and entrepreneurial students showcase their innovations, and encourage the business community as well as the general public to attend and participate in this exciting event,” comments Tom Miller, Executive Director of the Entrepreneurship Initiative at NC State.

A showcase of eGames participants and campus entrepreneurial partners will begin the 3rd annual event at 4:00pm followed by the Entrepreneurs Lecture Series and Prometheus Group eGames Awards, Networking & Reception.  To register for the 2011 Prometheus Group eGames, please visit http://ncsu.edu/els/.

About Entrepreneurship Initiative at NC State
The Entrepreneurship Initiative (EI) at NC State distinguishes itself by encouraging multi-disciplinary participation on every level – faculty, staff, industry and outreach partners, and most importantly, students. With Dr. Tom Miller as its first executive director, the initiative was formed In July 2008 in response to the Chancellor’s call to “develop an educated and entrepreneurial work force.” NC State has long been widely recognized as a strong presence in the entrepreneurial community of the region. By organizing and energizing its efforts through the Initiative, NC State will provide a comprehensive springboard for ideas, projects, and partnerships. By leveraging its core strengths in science, engineering, and technology, NC State will develop entrepreneurial solutions to society’s current problems and future needs.

About eGames
The First Annual eGames were held in April 2009 and were NC State’s inaugural Olympics-style competition for students to showcase their ability to sell their ideas to the entrepreneurial community.  From business plans to elevator pitches; from working prototypes to visual demonstrations; students competed for prizes totaling $30,000. Team and individual competition opportunities are available in areas that include but are not limited to web/IT innovations; B2B and retail products and services; bio tech and energy; as well as social, nonprofit and education development.
